Default patch cords

I am cutting down on spending to keep this set up in budget, the jacks that will be conecting an interface to the mixer is costing about £70 at the moment (hells no!) so i am thinking of patch bay cords, mono for 6 cost £7.45 only need 10 but oh well, heres a link to the product i am thinking of getting"Studiospares" Studiospares Patch Cords.Stjkx6 0.6M at Studiospares. To recap, this is to conect a computer interface "ESI" ESI Gigaport HD 8-OUT USB Interface at Studiospares to a mixer desk vier 8 seprat chanles. Will these cords be good or will it diminish the sound quality? (surly it wont becaus sound travels through these in a patch bay)

You'll be fine with those, just so long as you're okay with the length of the patch cables (~20 inches). You won't be moving around much. And having a few spares is always a good thing.

Just incase you were planning on purchasing from there, be aware that both the patch cables and the USB interface are out of stock. So from what you're saying it sounds like you want to use a computer to run effects mainly down 8 different channels?

Uhm ... the Gigaport says the output jacks are RCA. If this is correct, make sure you get RCA-1/4" patch cords.

Hosa cpr802 is an 8-channel snake for RCA to 1/4" TS connections.

Look at making them, will cost way less and you learn to make leads!

It may not cost less if you have to purchase all of the component parts just for this one project, you'd have to look at that on an individual basis, and most likely not if you assign any value to your time. However, it can be educational and some people enjoy making their own cables.

People always seem to miss this one. If I charge my billable rate... the 'cheap' home made cables become a lot more expensive. It's much easier/safer/'cheaper' to purchase them, realisitically. They're going to do a better job than me.
