Default Howdy!

I am a newbie, but over the hill too.

Looking to jazz up my various appearances and was really taken by a System used by a puppeteer. It was a Mackie 150 with a Countryman 6 mic system, Shure transmitter and receiver.

I see so many complaints about the countryman mic here I wondered what is the alternative.

Most seem to ok the Shure transmitter and receivers tho. yes?

I sure wish my electronics elf hadn't run away with the my seamstress elf! I am at a total loss what to get and would really appreciate any help.

Would certainly consider anyone offering help to fill the empty position - and would give special consideration if he/she were married and his/her spouse could sew!!

I've had many good experiences with Countryman B3s. They live longer than something like DPA, which supposedly sounds the best but is fragile. Others are also much more expensive.

If you liked the Mackie SRM150, look at the QSC K-Series and the EV Zx1 (you'll need an amp for that one). A bit more, but QSC and EV are better companies than Loud, Inc (and more stable financially!).

What mic are you referencing, there are multiple versions of the E6 head worn mic as well as there being the B6 lavaliere version? And what complaints are you referencing? There are alternatives (Audix, DPA, etc.) but there are also many people who are quite happy with their Countryman mics. Keep in mind that the connector on the mic will have to match the wireless system bodypack mic connector, which can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer or even model to model, so select your wireless before ordering or purchasing a mic.

I think the powered speaker offerings from QSC and EV compete more with the larger Mackie SRM models. Something like the QSC K8 might be a good option but it is about twice the size of a SRM150. Companies like Galaxy Audio and Anchor Audio offer some products that are more directly comparable as far as size.

On the wireless system, most manufacturers offer a range of systems so without knowing which series it was it is difficult to make comments or identify comparable products.

When you say "appearances" what specifically do you mean? Are you appearing in one place, do you travel? Are you providing audio every place you go? How large is the audience? What are the venues...Club, Church,? Do you have a budget? The answer to these questions will have an impact on the advice given in this forum. I have 12 Countryman E6 head worn mics. They work well for our application.
