    Default Smoke / Cryogenic Effect

I can't really think of a way to explain it but when you're on the bridge of a ship and it's been damaged or something dislodged from a space station and a burst of white vapor appears or is a steady stream like the ship is venting something.

This is usually done in movies, how do they do it?

In movies, its probably CGI. If not, Cryogeniflex or This Thread may be useful for information on a Co2 jet (which seems like a likely alternative. I don't think a fog machine would be powerful enough.

Yeah they wouldn't use a fog machine. CG is possible but is less likely for some of the bigger stuff (at least with a bigger budget).

I'm trying to learn how to do it as a practical effect. It seems like it could be dangerous? To do it with CO2 since a lot of times it's a constant burst?

I'd like to learn more about creating effects like that and using electronic solinoids(sp).

Oh yeah! But thats why its fun! (Joking)

I suppose something like what we were talking about http://www.controlbooth.com/showthread.php?t=24898 no, that wouldn't work... (unless you were to use a bunch of baby powder(I wouldn't want to clean that up))

I'm gonna contact a few SFX guys around that I know hopefully they'll have some insight. I'd like to start practicing making setups like if you were on a ship or something.
