Default "Deathtrap", fx ideas needed

Does anyone have ideas or leads on safely using a crossbow or a garrote that are used in the performance of "Deathtrap"?

Contact a professional fight choreographer, they will be able to help you find, use, and teach your cast how to safely work with stage weapons. This is really the only answer we can give you as working with weapons can cause serious injury and death. The internet is no substitute for real hands on training conducted by a professional. This may be a little more expensive than what you might be hoping for, but the safety of the people involved in your production is worth a lot more than the cost of professional training.

Soup or art?

My boss was involved in the original production. Our company provided many of the weapons and armour for the set.

{Edited for safety. It's a great effect and thanks for posting it, but not everyone who reads this post will be able to implement it safely. -Phil}.

Of course if you can involve an expert the better for everyone.

Do a search for the "knife trick" from "Annie Get Your Gun". The same illusion can be used for crossbow bolts that miss and have to hit a wall.

Unfortunately, we really can't give any advice beyond what has already been given.

As such, I will be closing this thread.
