Default Can I get a straight answer?

Call the client the week of. I'm told the event starts at 5 PM, goes to 10 PM and I can load in after 1 PM. Easy. So I don't bring any labor, just me. Figure I can coast thru set-up since I have the time. I arrive at the venue at 1:30, and there's another event going until 5 PM. What times does my event actually start? 6 PM! I have one hour to get in. So I load everything in to the back hall and start wiring stuff as I can. 5 PM the other event is still going. No one is leaving. I start pushing in to the room. Management isn't making any effort to shut it down. Jerks. Manage to get set up (mostly) in the hour. Oh, and the event runs to midnight, not 10. So I'm stuck 2 MORE hours. But they peter out at 11, which isn't terrible. And it wasn't just me. Everyone else was given the same misinformation.

And that's why you need to get everything in writing.

Add it to the the final invoice, if your particular situation / contract will allow. This seems to happen all to often. Even if you can, it still does not make up for the crappy night.
