Bulletin Board?
In lieu of the CB calendar, what about a small "bulletin board" on the home page and the top of the Forums page? It could be used for Online events such as webinars, also convention dates, job postings, important announcements, et cetera... When posted, the poster would set an expiration date and they would disappear on that date. Since it would be very public, posts and changes might have to be moderated by Senior Team or CBmods before they appear on the page.
Just a thought. I don't know if vB supports this or not.
