Ignore User Button?

Under User Control Panel/Settings & Options/Edit Ignore List (see attachment).

HOWEVER, this is not something that should be done lightly, without appropriate consideration. In fact, use of this feature may be directly antithetical to CB's Mission Statement:

To provide a venue for discussion, information exchange, and technical advice, related to technical theatre, in a casual and fun atmosphere that fosters friendships among its membership.

and Core Values:

The cornerstone values of our community is mutual respect between members. We pride ourselves in having a mature, civil, yet fun atmosphere where members are able to debate their differing opinions without resorting to flame wars. Our community enthusiastically welcomes new members, and we are always eager to offer helpful advice to both the novice and seasoned veteran alike.

Alternatively, one can go to a member's Profile Page, and click on User Lists, then Add to Ignore List.

Again I'll caution against this however. To reverse the procedure, one must follow the directions described in the post above.

If someone is harrassing, flaming, or is just posting in a way that is not in line with our mission statement and core values Derek quoted above; I encourage you to contact your favorite member of the senior team or a forum mod. We take maintaining a positive community environment here on CB very seriously.

When you chose to "ignore" someone, what exactly does this do? Ignores their PMs...I'm a bit confused..

All posts made by an "ignored user" are invisible to you. I think PMs still get through.

Personally, I wouldn't use it. One scenario: Member X asks a question. Member Y (on your ignore list) replies with the best answer ever. Member U (you) having not seen Y's response, posts the same answer. Now who looks dumb?

Nope, PM's do not go through. Other than that, Derek is correct and his warning is something to seriously consider as well. Just as a side note: you can't ignore staff, (the system will override your ignore settings for staff)

Looking at this thread, it's a wonder I'm still allowed here at all considering my utter crustiness/outright buffoonery when I first got here.

An ignore button? I'd have nobody to talk to!

Let this be a friendly reminder to you all ( as Gafftaper gave a friendly heads up to me): discuss anything that 's allowed. But don't hassle someone or be a jerk. Take it from me.
