    Default Wiki - usability

Please help me out here if I’m missing something, but it seems to me that the Wiki, both the glossaries and collaborative articles, has lost its ease of use.

    1. The default settings for the Page Display Options for each glossary are Show Pages from Last 2 Weeks, Sort Pages by Last Post Time and Descending Order. Can the default settings be changed to Show Pages from Beginning, Sort Pages by Page Title, and Ascending so that a user can access all the entries in alphabetical order? If the default settings can’t be changed, is there way for a user to “save” the Page Display Options? If I change the options then leave the glossary, I’ve got to reset the Page Display Options if I return to that glossary.

    2. There are too many pages in each glossary section and no easy way to quickly go to a word you are looking for. M-S has 33 pages. One shouldn’t have to wade through a glossary. Arguably, one could use the search function, but if you don’t know the spelling or the exact word, you are stuck. With the previous system, all the words were on one screen that one could quickly scroll through.

I'll see if I can't get the default sort set that way. The developer is working on bringing the alphabetical list view to this wiki product.

I wish I could have stayed with nuwiki, but the way it was coded, it would have been almost impossible to migrate to vb4.

Complete list of wiki terms, current as of 07/22/10, appears at !List of wiki entries.

It is suggested that one bookmark the page, until we can provide this functionality in the wiki itself.

EDIT 08/08/10: The Master List of wiki Terms, now resides at

Good, functional interim measure. Maybe repeat it in the Wiki?

How about a title of !List of Terms (I’m assuming that a ! will force it to the top of an alphabetical list. If not, then 00), then put it in each sub-glossary.

Note that (beginning yesterday) until a better solution is found, clicking on the "Wiki" tab of the main toolbar also takes one to the !List of Wiki Entries. I'll try my best to keep the page current.

See also ControlBooth - Wiki Issues, letter from our webmaster.
