    Electric Resume Hosting

I have recently created a website for people to view my resume, upon uploading it i became very angry with the amount of ad's that come up when a normal person views the site and i am wondering wether controlbooth has any where i could place my resume site that people could access.......

or does anyone know of a good free host (i don't care abot the name) which doesn't use my advertising and has FTP access (because i use dreamweaver)

if you want to know what i am talking about check out my site currently

Let me think about this a bit.. we were offering hosting once upon a time, with no bites, but I'll reevaluate the need for such a service again (check back with me in January.... I just finished a large web contract and I need a bit of R n' R before starting a new project.

Have you ever considered hosting your website by yourself? It isn't overly hard once you get started and you have total control over everything on the site. The only drawbacks are:
You're responsible for maintaining that site and keeping it running
Some ISP's don't allow customers to host websites off their internet connections
The computer you're hosting it off has to be on at all times
Apart from that, I found it really good to host your own!

There are a couple factor's that make it cheaper to have the site hosted rather than self-host it. The server this is running on is a real server, complete with redundent RAID array's and 4GB of registered RAM. It would cost too much to buy the equipment needed to self-host CB so that it runs at the same speed as the hosted version did. Please maintain the server and keep it patched. Business level Fios in my neighborhood would run $80 or more a month (in which hosting is allowed ... residential fios is prohibited from hostign web sites) whereas I pay much, much, much less for having the site hosted. Also, if for some crazy reason, my site gets slashdotted or the URL is mentioned during the Jay Leno show, the site won't crash due to bandwidth limitations (the hosting company will arrange a separate billing plan for the extra bandwidth, but the site won't go down).

Those are just some of the reasons behind that logic. Now, on the other hand, if I were to charge a nominal fee of $5 a year for a special hosting plan just for tech. resumes/portfolio's, I could pool that money and buya flexible enough hosting plan to suit the situation.

I have a website that I pay I beleive $10 a year for hosting plus domain name. For someone posting a resume and some pictures its a great service. So for say $20 a year you can have your own domain and your own space on the net for your work.
