Smiley selling gear

I know you cant post items for sale, but why is there not like a market forum? I know of other sites that have this and it works great! You would have make it known that CB is not responsible for anything. Maybe barter also. Contact would be made by phone or email just between individuals. Just a thought. Would like to know what other members think.

Personally i don't really think there is a market for it as we are a us based forum but we do have a lot of active members from around the world. Also having a "market forum" changes the image of controlbooth and means we would attract members for only buying and selling purposes and the reason controlbooth works so well is because its a community and having people coming in just to sell things that might not be of the highest quality, plus you don't really know its history

There is my two cents

I'm in favor of adding a Buy/Sell/Trade forum. Other forums I'm on, unrelated to stage and theater, have a minimum post count that must be reached before the market forums become visible. Until a member reaches that minimum post count, say perhaps 100 posts, they don't even know a market forum exists, or are unable to view the contents. I suppose this could be circumvented by a determined individual, but their posting activity would surely draw the scrutiny of admins.

Perhaps CB could even attract sponsorships from manufacturers or dealers. If they were allowed to advertise on CB's hypothetical market forum, CB could have an additional revenue source, and it's members could benefit from competitive pricing.

That's my two cents. Save the receipt.

I like this idea, but (you're not gonna like this part, Radiant): rather than use post count as a criteria, how about supporter status? Supporters have previously shown a predilection to paying for things needless.

Actually that'd be a great way to go. Perhaps a tiered sponsorship level: one-time donation, annually paying member, VIP (very intense payments), commercial member. I don't know if dvsDave would want to reflect this in a member's avatar area or not.

I meant that only CB Supporters would be allowed to buy or view sale items.

But I like your idea also. How about:
$5 = Fatherless Amber Donator
$15 = Light Frost Student
$30 = Chocolate Supporter
$100 = Super Supporter CTO
$500 = Primary Blue Lifetime Member
$1000 = Congo Organizational Member

Okay, so the idea needs some work still.

Or CB could make a percentage profit from the sale of said merchandise, like eBay. But that doesn't count as a donation!!!
