I'm sure that most of you know what an RSS feed is. If not, take a look here.
Would it be possible for a member of CB to subscribe to thread updates through RSS feeds? It would be very convenient to check updates of threads that I have started or posted on, or just ones I would like to watch. Would this be too hard to implement? I don't know the first thing about how RSS works server-side, so I can't offer much insight there. There are other ways to do it, but this seems to be the most user friendly. Edit: Any type of web syndication would be cool, RSS is just the most common.

Yo can subscribe via email 3 ways, daily, weekly, or instant updates.
RSS is very intensive for the server, here's an example: RSS works by having the feedreader ping the server for updates every 10 minutes or so. Do the math, if 50 users are subscribed to 3 threads apiece, that's (6 times per hour x 24 hours) x 3 threads x 50 users = 21600 extra hits on the server per day. Yes, feedreaders can sometimes be configured to refresh less frequently, and they don't take up a whole lot of data, but once you look at them as a whole, you can see how they can add up. We have an RSS feed for each forum already letting you know about the latest 15 updated threads. So, you can keep up with the latest news in the forums that you most frequently haunt, but as far RSS feeds per thread, that would bring the server to it's knees.
