One of my favorites....
Tuscan Whole Milk, 1 Gallon, 128 fl oz: Amazon.com: Grocery I love that monster cable sells cables for $100's when the studio that mixed the sound you are hearing paid the same amount for 1000' of cable in a box. |

So maybe im dumb, but if you really wanted the BEST connection ever, I feel like you should just skip the plug all together and use wire nuts. All our amp racks where I used to work were powered in this way. (course, we were using a real sound system, with tens of thousands of watts, but im sure they need better connectivity so they dont hear any power filtration issues). Looking at related products, I have to say my favorite comment out there is this: "DIY shielded power cable can be hard to find, P.E. has it.", on this page: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...ewRand=8069621 . Let me tell you how rough it is to find 12/3 cable... Well, I have 750 feet of it sitting under my desk at work, and maybe 1000 feet in cable inventory... And im pretty sure I didnt pay $9 a foot for it.

A good crimp is far better than a wire nut.
The problem is generally what happens between the pole and the branch circuit, not the cord and the wall.

Wire nuts can be problematic to install on a live circuit, and the twisting of the wires inside the nut wreaks havoc on the purity of the amplitude and longitude of the sine wave essential for high fidelity applications.
Belden 83803 is quite a different animal from common 12/3 SOxx cable. It is vastly superior and should be used whenever superior audio quality is a consideration. Even better are the non-oxygenated, liquid nitrogen-cooled cables. I only specify and use Monster® brand, for its remarkable ability to deplete the budget while at the same time offering virtually no discernible benefits.

I'm scared now, does this mean audiophiles are working on live AC circuits?
I try not to unless it's absolutely necessary, when it is I have insulated tools and proper training.

Actually, so here is a legit question: Do these audiophile people have phased power coming into their house, so as to put their audio system on one leg and the rest on the others? I feel like that and an isolated ground would be a much bigger deal than any outlet in the power chain. But of course, thats what the less discerning people (like recording studios and whatnot) use, so I have a feeling they dont. |
