About time!
I don't know who saw the ad spot, but Verizon's about to release an iPhone killer. The Motorola Droid. (a.k.a. Sholes, or Tao) With slick hardware, Android 2.0 and a frame thats only SLIGHTLY thicker than the iphone 3GS despite having a Full QWERTY keyboard, there is no doubt that people are going to go absolutely bananas for this thing. Will be on Verizon's superior network. (although T-Mobile's Project Dark may take away the title of "Fastest Network" from Verizon, but not "Best Coverage") Check out the pics here: Motorola Droid hands on! : Boy Genius Report Check out Verizon's teaser site here: Droid from Verizon Wireless

I agree with you Kyle, the term is getting old and overused.
Droid looks pretty nice overall, but like Kyle said, Android still needs more devlopers on the platform. Now if I could dual boot the iPhone OS and Android on the same phone, that phone would be a true game changer, even if it was a little jenky. Off Topic: I like your website Kyle, very nice look to it.

well, even though Android has been out for over a year now, 2010 is going to be the Year of Android. A HUGE number of carriers and cell phone companies are getting onboard with Android.
I think we'll see a huge upswing in 2010 in Android usage. And I generally agree with Kyle. I normally hate the "iPhone Killer" moniker. But it does tend to spark a discussion, and frankly, the Android 2.0 OS with the Motorola hardware is the first real contender I've seen to the iPhone. (Nope, the Pre just didn't quite go far enough IMO) Considering that Android is developed by Google, is not in a closed ecosystem (like all Apple products), API & distribution is free, and will work on a myriad of hardware, I think it's fair to potentially hang that "killer" moniker on Android (not a specific phone, but the OS). Of course, there will always be Apple Fanboys... but who says Google doesn't have their fair share of acolytes as well?

Android is cool, but just hope the Droid can live up to the hype they're creating with the ad campaign.

I have no doubt the Droid will live up to the hype.
It's a perfect storm, Google software with Motorola hardware. (Disclaimer, I may be a bit biased) A.K.A.- I'm a Moto fanboy

The real problem in this country is the fact that we have too many different cell services. Go, grab your Verizon phones and then travel outside of the US and guess what, you are hosed. The unfortunate thing is that even as we progress towards 4G service, we still have not unified the technology. The only thing that Droid holds over iPhone is the fact that Motorola will make it CDMA compatible so that Verizon can actually use it.
Heaven forbid that we should use the same technology as the rest of the world (except Japan)!

Alex, Maybe the rest of the world should conform to Our standards. Think of all the trouble that would save.
