Ideas for a simple "flying" effect

A fall from "a couple of feet" can break bones, damage the spine, fracture a skull ... just sayin'

Re: Replicating a similar fog effect - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_emAbsolutely nothing strange or magical going on here. Its just a normal fogger.

Glitter - I still hate it.

I work a tour of The Nutcracker every year and have gotten the fake snow cleanup down to an art.Glitter, the only good way I've found to get rid of it is to paint over it.

Fog/mist effect without setting off fire alarms

Not all detectors are created equal. Some are heat detectors which set off the fire alarm if they detect changes in temperature. Others detect particles in the air (ie, smoke, dust, etc) and there are a new breed which use infrared to detect smouldering fires. Knowing what type or detectors...

How to deal with a diva in an AEA99 world?

I would suggest having a meeting with the problem actor, the deputy and yourself. Outline, with specific examples, the actor's problematic behaviour and inform her that carrying on in this fashion is inappropriate, unprofessional, and creating a poisonous work environment for her castmates and...

    Peter Pan rigging in Canada?

I don't know of any Canadian companies offering flying services. I've had two productions of Peter Pan in my venues. Foy did one and ZFX did the other. Fantastic experience with both companies. Give them a call. They're used to working north of the 49th.Cheers.

Started in one field but found oneself in another in cross training

I started my education in a B. Mus degree program (oboist, spent a few years playing in small AFM orchestras), ended up finishing a BA in History. Freelanced in production as a TD, SM and am now working as a Paramedic (while keeping one toe in theatre).

Back stage lights - adviseable to use CFLs?

I tried a blue CLF in the lamp on my prompt desk once and it gave me a blinding headache by the end of the rehearsal. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. Walmart in my area stocks 25w blue incandescents, so that is my go-to blue bulb.

    First aid facilities

Re: First Aid KitsOff topic, but if you actually go and read the details of the McD's Coffee case, you'll find that it isn't the outrageous example of an overly litigious society that people make it out to be.Liebeck v. McDonald's Restaurants - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    EMT Certification?

I'm not sure how the various certs work in the states. Up here we have: Occupational First Aid 1 (8 hours) Occupational First Aid 2 (35 hours) Occupational First Aid 3 (70 hours) before we jump into the Paramedic and First Responder qualifications ... I'd suggest getting something along the...

    EMT Certification?

If you're not planning on pursuing a career in Paramedicine, I wouldn't bother. Look into getting a higher level of industrial/standard first aid that will give you the basic critical interventions and minor wound care. I am a licensed Paramedic, but will be working for the Ambulance Service...

    First aid facilities

When you're talking regs, certifications and scope of practice, the big rule is check your local laws. They vary from state to state and province to province. OTC meds can be a tricky one. As a first aider, you can't administer any med, but at some levels you can provide them for the patient...
