Hollywood vs Broadway flat construction part names

I have been build sets for many years for theatre and known the main parts to be stiles, rails and toggles. Doing my first blockbuster movie and the people constructing the flats are calling the parts by their carpantry names, studs, noggins and plates.Just for my on educations do both styles...

Very clever with the three level door ways for the space.

    Raised Platform Design

Thanks for putting me onto triscuits even though my original search result was a form of cracker. Found this link that helps as well. https://hstech.org/how-to-tech/platforming-things-to-stand-on-stage-decks-etc/platforming-article-3/ I have also ordered the book.

    Raised Platform Design

I have built few sets that involve high platforms such as bridges and dance platforms. With Noises Off being a show I want to do in the future I have seen a few rear images to access the upper section of the set. After seeing these I am thinking I have over engineered my platforms as the posts...

    German Brace

Thanks all for your replies. I thought I have missed some new or very old bracing system. Finally found the person and asked. What he called a German Brace is a Chevron Brace. I guess he has called it that for so long it became a thing to him.

Need to build a temp Proscenium

It will be proper rated lifting eyes, lifting irons and all wire is also rated. I was more concerned that this other set had there eye bolt horizontal and working on the shear of the bolt. The bolt can handle it, but can the plywood?

Need to build a temp Proscenium

Sorry for the Metric. This is my design. I will use 89mm x 19mm pine for the rails. 19mm marine ply for the end plates to frame. I have 4 sections at 3m per section. Bolted together with 8 x 12mm grade 8 bolts and nylon lock nuts. Does this build design look okay? Is 3m to far between lifting...

Need to build a temp Proscenium

The Columns (legs) are on the ground for the opening then the whole lot is flown. Yes, Broadway" flats. What size lumber, as I am worried about over engineering and unnecessarily adding to much weight. I was thinking 70mm x 30mm Pine, but I was told I could use 42mm x 19mm Pine.

Need to build a temp Proscenium

I need to build a temp Proscenium, 2 columns and a top truss bolted together from wood. It is supported at the top by a flown bar. I have built flown flats before, but not a Proscenium. What size timber is needed for the frame and basic layout. I am worried I will over engineer it.
