    Mac Aura Sideview Symbol

I found this on my phone, so I couldn't open it to make sure it had a side elevation, but here is the link to Martin's Vectorworks drawings for the Aura. http://www.martin.com/service/downloadfile.asp?name=Martin%20Prof%20Vectorworks%20Symbols%20Rev_150.zip&cat=66

Gobo Changer or Some Other Alternative

I've never used it and did not look up the cost, but I know I've seen GAM offer a product for this purpose. GAM : Lighting Equipment For Architectural, Specialty & Theatrical Effects

Cueing in lighting for a musical

I've searched and haven't found this exact question, so I thought I would start a new thread. Perhaps a poll would be beneficial, but everyone's situation is unique so I wasn't sure of the best way to write it. A little background - I had a colleague interviewing to be the lighting designer...

    Reusing a Vectorworks 2012 Plot

When you exported the data initially, did you export all of the fields, or just the ones you planned on changing - circuit, channel, etc.? If you only exported that info and not instrument type, etc., when you imported the new data, all of that information might now be blank. Just a thought...

Not too happy with Ushio BTN 750W/120V bulbs - alternatives?

The issue I've noticed is on the spring loaded contact in the socket, not the lamp base. It is flat in older sockets and concave in the newer sockets.

Not too happy with Ushio BTN 750W/120V bulbs - alternatives?

I would say that it seems the springs on the newer Altman fresnels are a lot weaker than those on the older units. I have had to replace more sockets on the 6" fresnels we received with a new venue (less than 5 years old) than I have had to on similar units that have been in regular use since...

    Producing a Public Domain Play

If you want a PDF of Earnest, formatted cleanly and without any copyright infringement, send me a pm and I can send it to you. We did it a few years back and I still have the final PDF at work. It's based off a public domain etext, so it's fine copyright wise.

    Mounting Rosco I-Cue Upside Down???

The icue should work fine if you close the gel frame clip. The two tensioning pieces on the icues tend to hold them very tightly in the first gel slot of a source four, and the clip will also help.

    Hanging a source four. Access?

A 36 degree Source Four is going to have an 11' field at an 18' throw; however, depending on the size of your gobo and its pattern, it may end up smaller. A 50 degree instrument will give you about a 17' field, and may work better depending on your gobo size/pattern. You can get a new lens...

    Hanging a source four. Access?

Very exciting to hear the LED S4 is starting to get shown off outside of ETC. Fortunately, that's really only 4,368 hours. Giving you 10+ years without a necessary change.

    Ceiling Fan as windmill

Re: Ceiling fan with stage lighting systemWe used a ceiling fan mounted vertically with modified blades for a production of Urinetown, and it was an awful experience. In five years of doing shows where I currently am, it is probably the scenic element we have had the most trouble with. It will...

    Ceiling Fan as windmill

Re: Ceiling fan with stage lighting systemI had a student build a windmill for a class project, and he used a rotisserie motor to spin the blades. It gave a nice slow rotation, was designed to work in a horizontal direction, and worked off standard voltage - no dimming needed. The only trick...

Control/Dimming Conventions of constructing solely LED Based facility

You might look into the purchase of backpack (single channel) dimmers for each conventional you plan on having. These would take constant Edison and data, fitting in nicely with your led power and data distribution needs.

How do I hatch instruments in Vectorworks?

Some symbols seem to be created using lines and not polygons, making them hard to fill or hatch when you duplicate and then 2d edit. I find it easier at times to create a new symbol using the polygon tool to trace over the old symbol (make sure you're snapping to objects and intersections).
