    Software querries

On the low/cheap end there's ADJ's MyDMX & MyDMX Buddy though they seem overpriced for what they provide and relative to other options, namely MagicQ. Related to these is DMXSoft's SUSHI which for $39 will get you going with older versions of their software. One advantage of these is that I...

Mini moving heads: ADJ, Chav, GENSSI, Tanyue, etc. ?

A variety of uses in a multi production theatre. For example, in an upcoming production we need to toplight 11 people. Had planned to use birdies but mini-movers would allow some color flexibility which would add a bit to the production and in one of these fanning them out towards the audience...

Mini moving heads: ADJ, Chav, GENSSI, Tanyue, etc. ?

Looking for some inexpensive tiny moving heads, preferably RGBW but color wheel sort of OK. I think the ADJ Inno Pocket LED is probably the leader in this category even though not RGBW.The Tanyue is kind of tempting and appears to have a decent beam especially for $169.The GENSSI looks...

    Light-o-Rama Dimmers for Professional Use

Two issues with early units is that they popped on and did not have a very smooth dimming curve. They may have corrected this by now. What do they do for noise isolation? Aren't these something like 150w per channel?

    Moving Head Fixtures

My goto is VL1000/1100. The 1100's are considerably quieter than the 1000's but are still likely too loud for a really small space. Not exactly small either. I think the LED movers like the Solaspot are great for effects and sometimes as specials but I've not been able to get the color close...

Replace LED in ADJ LED Pinspot ?

Thanks all. I've been trying to sign on to the ADJ forums for a couple of days but can't seem to get my login approved. They must know something about me that I don't :-) Hopefully by tomorrow. The place I purchased from will give me a replacement in a heartbeat but I'd rather not have them do...

Replace LED in ADJ LED Pinspot ?

I have a 2 yr old ADJ LED Pinspot that's stopped working with about 80 hrs on it (about 49,920 less than the estimated 50,000 hrs it's supposed to get). There doesn't appear to be a fuse anywhere. Likely a failed LED? Other? Has anyone fixed these or tried to replace the LED?

    Looking for Ideas

You need a contest. Audience members who want to be a part of the show enter a drawing. Winner gets to run spot. :-) You can't get a local high school or college kid or two to intern for you? Kids who like theatre, electronics, or horses should be game.

    Manufacturers - Winners & Losers?

Legitimate though? In most of these cases the company is undervalued in the market, usually because they missed the boat - they didn't continue innovating and producing products that people wanted for a price people were willing to pay. At least relative to the competition. What then is the...

    Manufacturers - Winners & Losers?

Brad, great response. One point. An acquisition is ALWAYS for the benefit of the buyer, or at least intended for the buyer's benefit. No? The bought will often benefit, but this is a by-product as a what's good for the goose is good for the gander. The exception might be a reverse buy-out...

    Manufacturers - Winners & Losers?

Great info. A slightly different twist on my original question. Who missed the boat and why?

How much LED in your rig?

Completely agree, poor wording on my part. Perhaps I should have said, "If I were doing a straight version of Twelve Angry Men I would likely not use many or any LED's." Then again, on second thought, I just might use primarily LED's if I were trying to get that vacuous pasty glow of...

    Manufacturers - Winners & Losers?

There was a time when the legit theatre world looked down its collective nose at the upstart rock industry. Not so much anymore, perhaps mostly because many of those former rock & roll companies drive much of the industry today. Who have the big winners and losers been? Who made good choices...

How much LED in your rig?

Thanks for everyone's input. Budgets are interesting things. For some folks it's budget that keeps them from getting LED's, for me it has often been budget driving me to LED's (I tend to like a lot of color so LED's are more efficient for me than others (and I don't expect to ever get asked to...
