A leaky Tube Amp? The horror!

I can relate. In the early 1970s, being too lazy to fix the mis-wired standby switch, on my Ampeg Gemini VI, I ran a ground wire from my amp, to the PA, to my brother's guitar amp. One day my brother forgot the ground wire to his amp. We started our first song, and as my brother stepped up to...

    Performance/Rehearsal Lighting in the Classroom

How many rooms are you talking about, and what kind of budget do you have? Multi color LED Pars will give you a lot of color options, but may require a board with more sliders than you're thinking of.If you are interested in having color options, you may want to look at fixtures that have a 2...

    Lighting System Documentation recources?

I'm guessing you've never had to save a show on an ETC Express Board. :)

Wireless mic issues only when there's an audience in the space?

Most installations I've seen, have the receivers near the stage, with a snake connecting them to the booth. The greater the distance between the transmitter and receiver, as well as physical obstructions, the greater the chance of interference. With 28 wireless mics, I assume you're in a fairly...

Loudspeakers Backing tracks only to monitor?

The Rockville, being a powered mixer, would generally need to be relatively close to the stage, otherwise you will have signal loss. That may or may not be an issue for you, but it doesn't have a Monitor Out.The Yamaha MG20 has a dedicated Monitor Out, which would be needed for the scenario...

Wireless mic issues only when there's an audience in the space?

Just a couple of thoughts. Unless I missed it, you indicate where the receivers are, in relation to the transmitters. Again, unless I missed it, you didn't indicate what types of problems you were experiencing with the wireless mics. You did go into some detail regarding the frequency bands, so...

    Looking for some NYC generosity

I've just done a couple of shows at the Langston Hughes branch of the Queens Public Library. They currently have 8 Altman 360Qs, but could use 4 more to provide better coverage for their stage. I was just wondering if a generous NYC venue might have some retired lekos that they'd consider...

    SHEHDS fixtures -- any good?

Just throwing my two cents in. A low cost (cheap) fixture can last a long time, if they are handled properly. Unfortunately, some of the theaters I work in, allow virtually anyone to do whatever they want to do with the lights in the theater. This is why I don't allow most productions to use my...

Control/Dimming Advice for choosing a light console

I do lighting design in several theaters that generally have either ETC Express boards or simple Elation boards. I never use them. I always use a laptop with QLC+. I can interface with a multi-universe DMX or Artnet setup.

    Tomshine Moving Head Replacement Fan

If it's any consolation, I'm first a singer/guitarist for over 50 years, which makes me acutely aware of the audio aspect of theater. Which is why I want these to be quieter.

They're discontinued, but I found 9 on eBay. I need 5, and I like to have spares.
