Bubble effect without the Bubble Machine

Would never have thought of using the i-cues like that. As I have 3 weeks until technical rehearsals even start I have some time to try different things out and this is definitely an easier and cheaper solution. Just need to go purchase some GOBOs.

Bubble effect without the Bubble Machine

Interesting idea. Just don't know how much the RP screen would be, as it would need to be fairly tall (proscenium - 22ft.). Definitely worth looking into.

Bubble effect without the Bubble Machine

The Community College I work at is putting on Willy Wonka. If you remember from the movie there's a room with the Fizzy Lifting Drink where there are bubbles every where and Charlie and Grandpa Joe start floating up. After refusing to have anything to do with trying to lift two actors by just...

Automated Fixtures Clay Paky Personality for Expression 3

Recently we purchased three new Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 300's, and I have not been able to use them yet. The problem: finding or creating a personality file for my ETC Expression 3. I know there have been threads like this before but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for in a...

    Control/Dimming Blackout Button

Have you tried looking into a used board? Their out there and if your not picky about having a brand new board it may work for you. You could look into rental houses that have been upgrading their equipment and will sell you their used boards at a discount. As far as the Blackout button is...

    New Equipment/Ideas?

I would look into PAR64s from Altman or the like. Fairly cheap and will be able to give you a lot of bang for your buck at 1000w. Altman's website has them for $107, and I'm sure you would be able to get them cheaper if you contacted your local theatrical supply shop. (I was able to get them...

Conventional Fixtures Source Four vs. Source Four Junior

I have a collection of both S4 Jrs and Regulars. I hardly ever use the Jrs mostly because of how dim they are compared to the Regulars. However in a smaller space they get the job done and it's nice to be able to get more instruments for your dollar. From someone who has worked with Jrs that...

    Angling Fixtures in Spotlight

Usually when you place the symbol on the drawing with one click you will than be able to see the fixture and change the angle so it points in the direction you want. Not sure about a way to make it do it automatically though.

Funtime with lighting in the new apartment

Try looking at Rosco's Light Pads. I think these could be fairly awesome looking as a glowing table top or such for drinks. Not sure about the price though.

    Rosco iPro Image Projector

Thanks for all the advise. I'll have to look into the Selecon. At the moment I was looking at buying some Enhanced Definition Lens Tubes for use in the S4s with the image projectors. Not sure if I have the dough to get the Selecon's though I will think about it.

    Safety Cables

I-cues come with permanent Safety Cables as well. Makes it very convenient to tie them off. Though I do worry when they strike them that one of these days a student won't be paying attention and that safety will swing around and break the mirror.

    Rosco iPro Image Projector

Anyone used one of the Rosco iPro Image Projectors? My technical director/scene designer saw one used for a high school UIL competition and declared that we had to have four. And that he would be able to print any picture he wanted to and just project it instead of having to paint a drop...

    360Q is burning gels

I had a similar problem a couple of years back with S4 36degs. It seemed like there was nothing I could do and the gel would burn through in the first 15-30 minutes of the show. Heat shielding worked a little but next time I need to try what FatherMurphy suggested about putting the light into...

    Lighting T-Shirt

In high school it was big for the actors to have the "Thespians do it on stage" bumper stickers. As a technician we always wanted to make a "Techies do it in the dark" shirt. Never got around to it. I also have one of the VL shirts that says: "Life is a freakshow We just do the...
