    Vectorworks 2013 Download

Hey, would anyone happen to know of a way to get ahold of a copy of the Vectorworks 2013 install. I own a serial number, but my install disk has gone AWOL. I need to put it on a new computer, and I'm a bit up a creek here.

    Jands Vista Control from QLab

So, I have just discovered that the Jands Vista software for Mac does not support MSC. I have Vista V1 and QLab running on the same machine (don't worry, it's powerful enough to run both), and need to have QLab communicating with Vista since it runs the rest of my show control and I don't want...

Design Warm LED DMX Lighting for Spin Studio

Hi Rob, this is Rob. Welcome to CB, and I'm glad you're finally posting. I have a couple of paths that you could take. The first path is exactly what you asked for, purchasing new fixtures. Due to the natural color temperature of LEDs, most LED fixtures are going to have a cooler tone to...

    Followspot color choices

As far as diffusion goes, I always make sure that there is an R132 in the spots so that I can soften them depending on the song. As far as color goes, I don't tend to use strong colors for spots. However, I will use a variety of color corrections to make it look more pleasing and mix better...

URGENT: Apollo Smart Power - DMX signal dropouts

One other thing to keep in mind for future reference since you were mentioning DMX dropping out, is that each run of scrollers can't be longer than 200' and must loop back to the Smart Power in order to get consistent DMX signal. I've had that issue in the past, and it caused very similar...

    Howdy from the Midwest

Hey, everyone. I'm not at all new, I just haven't been on in a couple of years. So, since I'm sure the community has changed quite a bit since then, I'll give a new brief introduction. My name is Rob, and I am the resident lighting designer and lighting and sound supervisor for a theatre in...

    Hello

Welcome! Wow, you are quite a ways over there. I was going to say I wasn't too far from you since I lived for a few years just South of the Michigan border, but you're way over there. Its good to hear from people committed to community theatre. As is usually said to people new to CB, feel...

    UK Job Search

Hi, I'm a college lighting designer and electrician who is about to graduate in a few months. I searched everywhere on CB I could but couldn't find anything, so here goes. I've decided recently that I would like to pursue jobs in the UK. However, I'm from the US and really have no clue how to...

    Pictures of 1920s footlights

Hey, I was wondering if anyone had pictures of 1920s footlights or could direct me to where to find them. I'm currently working on a production of Thoroughly Modern Millie where it has become necessary for a floor-mounted instrument to be used in one scene that will be seen by the audience...

    Martin Junior 700 Wiring Diagram?

I started work at a new theatre and am working on repairing a Martin Junior 700 fogger that they have in stock and was broken before I got here. I'm really not sure what exactly is going wrong with it. It will heat up, then simply shut off the heat with no fog at all. I am using the correct...

    Done anything fun lately?

I do have to say, the 40 movers are impressive (not to mention the Vista ), but compared to a show with over 300 conventionals, 90 isn't too bad.

    Done anything fun lately?

Hey, I don't mind a bit of competition. I have a design of Magaret Edson's Wit entered. It was actually on this show that I got to play around a bit. There are several fun scenes in it from a lighting prospective. One is a scene in which three medical tests take place (an Xray, an upper GI...

Automated Fixtures Recommendations for Robotic lighting

I don't really have anything to add in the category of what to get, but I can tell you to stay away from the Chauvet Q line. While they are not bad low-budget fixtures, they have a very loud fan noise and a tendancy to go through lamps rather rapidly, which, at $120 a lamp, gets a bit pricy.
