New Stage Floor Designs Please!

My theater is looong overdue to be refurbished and I think I have finally convinced the powers at be to deal with this problem. I am curious to learn about other deck systems or alternatives for a 'top skin'. Currently my floor consists of:
concrete slab
sleepers
(2) layers of 5/8" plywood
(1) layer of 1/2 Celotex
(1) layer of 1/4" Masonite as the top skin

At the very least, the time has come to replace the celotex layer and the maso top layer. It's been a great floor for nearly twenty years -- extremely quiet with a little give for performers but still can hold up to heavy point loads. It also gets screwed into all the time. Im not opposed to keeping our decking system as is, but if anyone has some good input on other alternatives let me know!

Seems like a good floor to me, especially if you like it and it worked for you. How long has it lasted? "Masonite" is all I ever see as a top layer in the theaters I haunt.

yeh, it's not been a bad deck system -- great for screwing into. Just wanted to see if there is anything even better out there. I've never seen a floor skinned in anything but Masonite -- well unless the deck is MDF and hell, you might as well perform on a concrete slab...

2 layers of ply as the sub floor seem to be the norm. I've never seen celotex, but homosote has been common. My old stage was built in a basement of a department store, so the deck was built on 2x8's on edge to bring the height to 9", with soft open cell foam underneath (between the lumber and tile floor). Sort of an unconventional way to deaden sound, but its effectiveness was apparent when you stepped off the deck onto a standard platform added for a show. Muffled footsteps turned into sharp thumps. If you feel like tearing up your whole floor, give it a try haha.
