Mixers/Consoles Digico S21

It'll still be at least 15k. Looks like a pro1 spec. Bet it hits the price point as well. This will not be an m32.

I think Digico is far from putting out a very cheap desk. They are not in that market. They make EXCELLENT consoles, and probably the best sounding of most digital desks, but they know their market and price-point is higher than the bargin, Berhingers, QSC, Makie, etc.

I am interested in Hearing the M32 though, its supposed to be pretty good. I love the marketing.

"Introducing the Berhinger X32, with Midas preamps!"

"Introducing the Midas M32, with REAL Midas preamps!"

I really wasn't expecting M32 price point, but something in the range of the Midas Pro1 or Yamaha QL5 range. That mid-upper range console market could use some more competition, and I think an attempt by Digico would be great to shake things up a bit. The lower end digital consoles are really flourishing with all the competition of Behringer, Midas, Presonus, Soundcraft, etc. They keep getting more and more powerful, and prices keep dropping. It'd be wonderful to see the same in that mid-range market, and this may help!

I'm willing to bet it comes it at 20k. They already have the SD11 in the 15k space... unless they undercut themselves. They want the Pro2 market... and Pro2's are flying off the shelves right now.

The problem is that the Pro2 is more equivalent to an SD9 when it comes to feature set than what I'm seeing in the S21 so far - and the Pro2 has obviously won out because of the lower price point and perhaps better brand recognition. The S21, as you noted above, has more of a Pro1 feature set, which can be bought into at less than 9k. Plus, the Pro2C is doing very well, and comes in just under 15k.

I'll admit that I'm partial to the Pro series, but I've always wanted to give Digico a chance. Here's hoping.

What is probably comes down to is what does Clair want in a smaller format console... They own more Digico then anyone.

When we bought our Pro2's I looked at Digico and they were 2x the cost for really no return. If this thing comes out with the T software it will really take off for them in the regional theatre market.

There is a lot more online now, looks impressive.

Is anyone else getting tired of these videos. I'm getting really tired of watching 1-2 minute videos that are maybe 5% information if you look at the couple of product shots really closely, and 95% music and graphics that do nothing but waste my time.

I agree completely. However "that is a pretty console". But why can't they put at least some information that will peak my interest in their videos? Going to be much more effective at making me look further at their product than videos LIKE THAT.

Do have to say the S21 looks like a good desk.

Then again so does the Roland M-5000, which a friend of mine gets to use for the first time this week (first time the desk has been in Canada apparently). I hope to get a chance to check it out this weekend when I visit. Of course I'd still take a DIGICO over Roland for he most part.

It's not just a Digico thing, the video for the Clay Paky Scenius was even worse.

By "they" I meant "manufacturers", not just Digico. There have been a number of product videos like that, which were just horrible! Don't think I saw the Clay Paky Scenius video however, and glad that I haven't if so if what you say is true.

My comment was more to say that the qualities of a new product are much more important than how pretty it is... Then again this video wasn't even that good. Its just horrible. A highschool student could of made it quite as well.

In the stupid product video category, how about this for the new Soundcraft console.

Has Soundcraft gone into making bowling balls? Actually, it fits well with Soundcraft's other marketing. Unlike other manufacturers, it is impossible to go to their website and get a decent, high resolution look at one of their consoles.

I was a little shocked by the price point. That's CHEAP! It will be interesting to see how it compares to the PRO 9, but I'm sure these will be flying off the shelves.

The Pro9? Thats a 50,000 dollar console that is not even in the same planet as this.

These guys are all chasing the X32 niche. Find that rather interesting. We have an act bringing in an SD11 Friday, might have to see if they are looking to "upgrade".

I meant SD9, but even so your point is still valid.
I realize that there is a vast difference in price, and along with that certainly a step down in features, but it is a similar form factor, and size of control surface. There are many people out there who would like this size of desk, but would not ever use all the potential of the SD9, especially for digico users that want an affordable desk with the digico UI. There must be a balance not to compete with there other products.

And this is squarely targeted at the same market as the X32, but probably more the M32. I took a listen to an M32 a while ago, and of coarse its all subjective but the M32 stops all over the LS9 in terms of sound quality.

Avid has some new compact desks on the horizon as well. It will be interesting to see if they arrive at a similar price point.
