Decided to quit lurking and finally get an account

Hello everyone!

I've been a lurker of the CB forums for about a year now, and have finally decided to register. Well, to start us off on an honest foot, I registered because for the first time ever, I was unable to find a solution to my problem just by searching, which I usually always can!

A bit about myself, I'm 23, and live in Vancouver Canada. I'm currently working towards my bachelor's degree in Professional Studies of Music Business at Berklee College of Music. I've worked for years in music locally as a promoter/booking agent for some regional and national metal/heavy music acts. I've also spent three years on the road touring almost full time as a backline technician for a few larger acts, and have been lucky enough to be on tours with bands like Every Time I Die, Stray From The Path, Iwrestledabearonce, Terror, and lots of other great acts (not to mention a few less than great ones, ;D )

While touring as a backline technician, I also was responsible for creating and mixing many of the band's click/backing track sessions in Ableton Live. I have since then started expanding in to lighting design, primarily using the ENTTEC DMXIS, because my goodness is integrating a VSTI plugin into existing software so much easier than any other solution cost/upkeep wise for a mid level touring band.

Here's one of my first attempts at a sequenced lighting show in Ableton Live using the DMXIS, if you're interested in checking it out :

And, if you'd be so helpful as to throw your two cents in to finding a solution to the software visualization problem I'm having, I'd really appreciate it! The thread I created can be found here :

Also, if there's interest in me making a thread that goes in depth on the methods and best practices I've found for creating an effective backing track/click/lighting automation session in Ableton Live for bands, I would certainly make one and love to help anyone out with what I think is a pretty great lighting solution for low-mid budget touring projects :)

Cheers!

Welcome to the Booth @annix ! Certainly feel free to start a thread sharing your experience. You may find that there are members who didn't even know they had questions until reading how someone else did it.

Happy posting!
