Out of the Wings...

Hello CB!

I'll admit it--I'm a longtime lurker on the CB forums. I first became involved in theatre tech back in high school, where we were lucky enough to learn on an ETC Element and a rig primarily made up of S4 LEDs. I've perused the site (mainly the Lighting & Electrics and Sound/Music/Intercom sections) for answers to all sorts of questions--from the finer points of ML operation to how to wire a 3-way chasing light bulb marquee.

As an undergrad at Northwestern University, I now work in the university's several concert venues--the 1,000-seat Pick-Staiger hall, a brand-new (as of 2015) 400-seat hall, a black box, and a few other small recital spaces. I'm primarily an LD (mostly for contemporary ensembles and choirs) and sound tech, though I do some stage managing as well. I've also worked for student-produced theatre productions at Northwestern. Most recently I was an electrician and board programmer for a production of Titanic the musical (nothing like the movie!), which was the 2015 "Dolphin Show" (America's largest student-produced musical).

Now that I'm no longer lurking "in the wings" on the CB forums, I'll look forward to posting future tech quandaries of my own for all you amazingly knowledgeable folks, and I'll try to contribute from my own experiences where I can.

See you soon on the boards!
