DMX control with Mac and iPad

So here's the scoop I'd like to be able to control a single universe using an entec opens dmx dongle with my macbook pro and get some touch screen capability with my iPad. It will end up being some conventionals and about 8 Mac vipers so patching is important. Anyone know of a sweet setup for such a thing?

I'll take a small stab at an option since no one else will yet.

If you're limiting yourself to the gear you have now, it will probably be very difficult. I can recommend 2 basic setups.
1) You could either use a VNC type control of the iPad to the computer to make changes through whatever software you have on the mac. You won't have multitouch controls and it will probably be and look rougher during fades and such.
2) The other option would be looking into some software on the Mac that will support Open Sound Control (OSC) which will allow you to use the TouchOSC App. (http://hexler.net/software/touchosc). OSC is completely customizable if you can find software that it will control.

My 2¢. Hope it gets you started and/or this conversation rolling with some more thoughts. I'd also love to know of other solutions.

I won't limit myself to just the equipment I have now, and this is more for focus and fixture testing we have a full console to do that, just doesn't offer iPad remote control

I've been dabbling with porting my Windows lighting program over to Mac. You can grab a copy of it here. It works using the D2XX interface so you'll have to install that from the FTDI page. It also needs the Enttec Pro or DMX King interface. BTW, the DMX King Micro is $10 cheaper than the Open and has the built-in processor so you get much better fades. Working from an iPad is another kettle of fish.

So it looks like the console you have doesn't have anything that can easily integrate with some other things. I just came across this in the past day so I'm not sure how great it will work, but Martin has a software program M-PC http://www.martin.com/en-US/Product-Details/M-PC

Sadly, I think it is windows only, but it does allow use of one universe with the use of Enttec devices. Pairing this setup with the iOS remote app for either iPad or iPhone http://www.martin.com/en-US/Product-Details/iOS-MAXRemote you should be able to control your entire system.

I have not tried anything with either of these pieces of software except confirm that I could send information through an Enttec MK2 Pro. If I get a chance, I will see if I can get the iPad control to work with the setup, even maybe under a virtual machine instead of a straight windows boot.
