Favorite Baby Fresnels?

Hello!

I'm seeking alternate suggestions for 3" to 4" baby fresnels.
I've used the Ianaro Mizars with 500 Watt sockets and the Altman nodel 100 Inky's.
A few comments.
The mizars are lovely but a little rough on gel although gel life can be greatly extended by clothespinning color to the barndoors. I really like the physical size of the Altman 100's but four-way barn doors are difficult to come by.
I'd like to stay with normal incandescent lamps in the 100 to 500 Watt range.
We're moving into LED's but would prefer not to have to drag a DMX cable along for some of the 'working prop' applications. No, I'm not looking for wireless DMX either.
Nothing physically larger than the Altman 100 please and definitely zoomable; nice, soft, fuzzy edges and dimmable with standard dimmers.
I'm in 120 volt land.

Thanks in advance.

Toodleoo!

Ron! So good to see you back on the forums! Hope you are doing well.

To put in my two cents, I have only really used the Altman 100's but I know that Times Square makes a similar model. I've never seen one in real life, but I'd be surprised if it isn't a decent little fixture. Seems like Times Square dabbles a lot in the architectural market, so maybe they'd have a better selection of barn doors. Heck, their barn doors might even fit Altman's fixture. Might be worth looking in to.

I dabbled around in some camera lighting years ago, and found that this little lowel product was a very useful light that was not unlike an "inky": http://lowel.tiffen.com/prolight/index.html#info

You can actually get the bardoor leaves that you want - check in the "controls" page for the Pro Light. There are 3 different kinds of barndoor leaves to pick from. It's got a camera lighting mount instead of a clamp point, but that's easy enough to fix.

Main downside is that gels have to be held away from the light, but there's a nifty little gel holder that will hold the gel out in front of the light.

Warning: this post is mostly useless to the OP but here goes anyway.
Apollo USED to have a baby Fresnel but it seems to be discontinued, no longer listed on the website anyway.

Then there is this one from Mole Richardson:

A little spendy compared to the usual suspects. But then this is what Mole Richardson calls "Baby Fresnels":

Who knew they still made 10K fresnels and there is also a 12K.

Ditto on the comment from les, it is nice to have you back.

We did stop selling the Spotlight fixtures a couple years ago, although there are still some various fixtures on ApolloOutlet.com. However, there is still a distributor in North America. http://www.spotlight.it/contatti.asp?lang=Eng (I believe the full range of fixtures is available, not just what we chose to sell.) They are good lights. Tough market to break into though. We wanted to give it a shot, but it just didn't work out. Oh well. On to the next great thing!

Interesting that NewLighting.com has them listed as Apollo rather than Spotlight. Although, the name Spotlight does tend to cause some confusion! People don't realize that is a brand name.
