Flame Proofing a Fiber Optic Drape

I recently received an 18'x46' classic black fiber optic drape as a donation. The tag on it says that it was constructed in 2000, but there's no fabrication company info. I've gotten it hung and tested, and all the workings are great. My question is this: Since I have no way of finding out if the flame proofing has expired, can I just go ahead and spray this with Flamex? Will it adversely affect the fiber ends that are poking out the DS side (make them cloudy/dim/etc.?) Does anyone have any suggestions for products or companies that I can use for this, if Flamex is a bad idea?
