Hey, show loading in at my place and low and behold I find this.
You know the economy is bad when they can't afford a $5 shackle.
i love how a failing ratchet strap will give out and spin. Hope that one doesn't fail.
What is loading in? Is that truss hung with chain motors as well or just ratchet straps. I've seen ZFX and other companies use ratchet straps IN ADDITION TO hoists in order to make their rigs rock solid and stable.
Well they are just the guy lines attaching to our mid bridges on either side, so not too bad. But you'd think the military could afford some shackles and aircraft cable (this is the airforce)
Manila Rope? Really?
Oh you mean the the ratchet- that doesn't look good, if it's load bearing.
What's wrong with manilla rope? Of course most of us would prefer synthetic rope to avoid the splinters and the mess it can make. There isn't any reason that you should have to replace it as long as it's in good shape though.
Specially since they are just pick lines, only used for side tab curtains, and cable picking. (we have a full counterweight system with synthetic hand lines).
Sorry, I was just being a bit snarky. A bit of humor that didn't translate online.
I worked with manila rope for many years and remember the fun of oozing and festering splinter wounds. If given the choice I would use synthetic, but there's nothing wrong with using manila rope in good condition.
