HID

High Intensity Discharge, a type of lamp family whereby light is created by an electrical arc in an atmosphere of gas. See also gaseous discharge. Most often refers to Metal Halide or Mercury-Vapor lamps, but can include HMI, MSR, Sodium-Vapor and other arc sources.
