Programmer

1. The person who writes the cues, effects, fades, fans, sub masters, etc that are dictated by the designer into a lighting desk. The programmer's goal is to efficiently make the designer's vision happen.

2. A specific area of some lighting consoles, Wholehog and grandMA among others, where cues, looks, palettes, etc. are created or modified. Values in the programmer take priority over all other sources. After recording a cue, one clears the programmer and runs the cue, which is not unlike [REC] [CUE] x, [CUE] x [GO-AB], [REL] [REL] [REL] on an Expression-family console.
