Blackout

1. (noun). A lighting cue in which absolutely NO lights remain on. All instruments and practicals are at 0%. Commonly used for scene changes, or to indicate the end of a scene/act/song/etc.

2. (verb). To extinguish all lights in zero time. Some people erroneously use the term "blackout" to refer to a fade to black.

3. (adj.). A blackout drop or BOC is a flatsewn black velour used upstage of a scrim to reduce transparency until just before the dissolve.
