Projection Mapping

The process by which a portion of a projected image is digitally eliminated by applying a black masking so that the image is only shown where desired. This is most often used for three dimensional object projection where the surface to be projected upon is uneven, or to compensate for spherical or oblique projection surfaces. This can be accomplished through the use of software or hardware between the source material and the projector.

One of the best demonstrations of this technique is Roger Waters The Wall Live tour, 2010-present.
