1. Lighting. A key [REL] on some consoles (primarily
Express/ion family) that terminates any
manual data being sent out by means of a selected or captured
channel(s). Can be a physical key/
button or a verbal direction. (On the
EOS/Gio/
ION/Element family of consoles, [Sneak][Enter] is the New Release.) On
programmer-based consoles, clearing the programmer accomplishes similar.
2. Audio. When using a
compressor, there are two timing settings: Attack and Release. The Attack setting is the amount of time the compressor takes to reduce the volume. The Release setting is the amount of time it takes for the compressor to
return to normal volume after the signal is removed.
