1. Touring. verb. Communication between a venue and a touring company to verify that all of a production's requirements can be satisfied. "The touring Production Manager advanced the show with the House Technical Director."

2. Box Office. noun. Short for "advance ticket sales." Pre-opening, an early indicator of the success of a production; during the run, an indication of the financial health and potential duration of the engagement. "Miss Saigon opened at the Broadway Theatre in New York on 11 April 1991 with a record $37 million advance."
