connector

1. A device that provides for mechanical attachment. E.g., conduit connector.
2. A wiring device allowing for non-permanent electrical attachment for power, signal, or data purposes.
3. Strictly speaking, in some lines, the connector is always female or the line connector, and the plug is male or the load connector.
