1. Another term (especially in the UK) for shield.

2. Often called a windscreen. This is a foam (or foam with metal frame) surround that goes around a microphone element to help diminish the sound created by moving wind, sibilant or popping vocal phrases.

3. Projection screen, a surface onto which an image is projected.

4. Transitive verb: To filter. "Human Resources will screen the applicants before passing them on to the TD for consideration."
