A lighting effect in which a fixture flashes on and off quickly. Often special strobe lights or LEDs are used, as conventional fixtures cannot rise in the time often necessaries for an effective strobe.

Arc source moving lights usually have a strobe function where a shutter or blade rapidly interrupts the light output. Some popular dedicated strobe units include Diversitronics, HES DataFash/AF1000, Martin Atomic 3000. For massive single-source full-stage effects, look to Lightning Strikes and/or Hungaro.
