wash

1. adj. A type of luminaire having a concentrated beam with a soft edge, such as a Fresnel or PAR. Contrast with a spot or profile unit.

2. noun. A system of fixtures, all the same color from the same angle, lighting the entire stage.

3. verb. To use #2: "Wash the stage with congo blue backlight."
