So the new job is quite excellent. With one gripe. We're taking over managment of a theatre that's attached to a charter school. The theatre was supposed to be a pool. Its been managed by a gym teacher poorly for a few years to the point that no one replaced house lights. The school doesn't take care of any of its equipment....point in fact the genie started smoking on me yesterday as I was trying to move the dead hung curtains and fix the horrible sightline issues. I can't get onstage until 4pm....because class is held all day....except on Mondays when I can't get in until 6 because the football team is watching footage of their game. Can't lock anything. We have no gel frames. Life rocks!!

And its STILL better than my old job.

WHO are you and what have you done with the original Grog12? The above post contains NO spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors (well, one!), so you are obviously an impostor.

So an update....they fixed the big old man lift that was smoking...the batteries were way corroded and just plain dieing. Back in action we had a 14 hour work call that lasted until 4am to crank out the last bit of rehanging dead hung pipes and drapes, laying floor etcetera.

After a smashing 1st tech we realized we had a couple of more things we needed to do. So out came the big old man lift of doom. Worked like a charm...then...as I was 20 plus feet in the air, with my artistic director....it stopped working. Didn't slowly die out, just completly done.

For those of you younglings, this is why you never work on a man lift without someone on the ground to pull the emergency down lever.

I still don't know what's wrong with the thing. Somehow whatever was loose began touching again (after half an hour of cursing and inspecting the lift) and we were able to finish and get it the hell off the stage.

Oh...and someday I should post about how they rigged most of the overhead stuff. Needless to say if I'd known what was above my head I wouldn't have walked on stage.
