Fences Tree

1/4" or 1/8" cold steel rod. 3/4" plywood armature with foam filling. there's a ton of choices,
cyrptic post.

Ficas, Fur, Pine, specifics please....

Perhaps,
the
LARCH
Oh, I'm a Lumberjack and I'm ok. I sleep all night and I work all day.......

It would be a bit taller then the common shrubbery I will have to say.
Still, I wouldn't wish to cut it down with a herring !

Nee!

BTW, there is a lesson here kids, be specific with your question or we will give you back whatever we feel like. Usually references to british comedy of some sort.

Now... to just find a shrubber.

.....Now... to just find a shrubber.

Or perhaps a duck! or a piece of wood. A rock! well a really small one.

Seriously, I'd love to be more helpful. I'm assuming that this "fences tree" is a very specificly referenced set peice for the show Fences but seeing as I have never done the show, and hate reading scripts. I have no point of reference.

I am in the final stage of working out the details on how to build the tree it needs to 6' around and 12' tall

thanks

mm... doing a austin" wilson" play? FENCES

my college is working on that right now. opening in 2nd week in nov.

2f 6in box, 6 foot high, 4 foot legs on 4side, chicken wire to form the tree body, and use Paper mache' to do the body, branches, used newspaper as the first coat then use muslin as the 2ndcoat as the 2nd coat dries, we slap VSSD on the muslin to create a hard surface.

thats where we are right now.
Set Designer/Scenic painter (same person) plan to use large bark pieces nail glued to the VSSD surface to create the look of a Tree.

i have to tell you its a dang ugly tree to start out... well its still ugly tho. GallyTD can attest to that too...

Number one question DellTD. What's your budget?

Van's first post takes you down the path of a $1000+ tree... but it will look REALLY GOOD. Jfisher's post represents the opposite end of the price scale. It won't look that great but it'll work. There are lots of options in between.

And now for something completely different.

Nah Mines only going to be a couple hundred bucks, as long as you have the tools; a mig welder, ability to build some rod bending tools, chickenwire, VSSSD, But it is going to look **** good.

Since the poster was asking the question in the first place, I was assuming the poster was at a school and doesn't have access to your toys or someone with your skill V-man. So they would have to purchase or pay to have someone do all the steel work and thus the price. However, you are right (for a change:twisted:) If they do have access to metal working toys (and the skill to use them right) then the price is about the same no matter how you do it.

DONKEY RIDES!
