I've been put in charge of designing a small LED rig for a small theatre located in a classroom. The current rig consists of 10 Altman 6" Fresnels controlled by a LP-612 board. They want to add LED fixtures to the rig in order to add color. I've been searching old posts on CB and decided on either 2-4 Chauvet COLORPalette or 4 LED Par 64 - Version 2. The LED's will be used mainly to do full stage color with the Fresnels providing front light. Which of these fixtures will best match the footcandle/lumen output of the 6" Fresnels? Which of these have the best color mixing and don't give nasty LED shadow? OR are there other LED fixtures out there that I am missing that would accomplish my goal is a better way? What are some good dealers to buy these fixtures from and which ones would possible send me a demo fixture to try out? I'd like to keep the budget for this project around $1000, and that total has to include fixtures, cable, power, and a board.
And I'm not done yet!
Would I be better off buying a separate board just for the LED's or should I buy a new board that can handle both the LED's and the conventionals (would I then have to buy a splitter)? What are some boards that I should be looking at for both options?
What are some places to buy cable at a reasonable price?
And for power, the conventionals are currently being powered by two old Leprecon 6-channel dimmers (the model name escapes me sorry!) So, how should I get power to these fixtues, should I run separate power cable from edison jacks located next to the stage, or can these fixtures have there power daisy-chained (is that even possible? I semi-recall some fixture that could do that).
Thanks for your help!!
