Control/Dimming i96 rack

I have an i96 rack at my high school and have a few questions about it.

1) The blue i on the front randomly lit up the other day shortly after I said that it looked like something that should light up and then when I turned off the lights in out dimmer room, the light was on!

2) Also, does anyone know about plugging serial into the diagnostics port on the control board?

3) Could anyone point me to a manual? I've looked around to no success.

The blue i on the top of the dimmer will turn on when any of the dimmers in that rack have a load. The i on the dimmers a my theatre almost never turn off, we have three i96 rack and they mixed the house lighting in to all three of the rack. So it may go off a lot or almost never.

Do you know what kinda dimmers you have? there is two I series, the first, "I series" and the second, "I series E". They have different manuals for the two, but both are located at Leviton Library or leviton Dimmers. There is different manuals of the rack, the dimmer, and the control module.

It doesn't seem like it goes on when there is a load. I have a regular I series rack. I looked at the links you gave and found the manuals. Thanks! It doesnakt seem like there's all that much that I can do with the diag port. I do have one other question though. Does the handheld terminal come with the rack? If so, o suspect that mine's long gone. I also think that I probably need to clean out the filters which I suspect could be why the fan always seems to be at full power but I'm not sure because its on regardless of whether there's a load and there aren't any overtemp lights on.

At my highschool we had i96 racks and one came with a handheld terminal for interfacing the controle module. It gave phase status and allowed you to configure dimmer parameters. The door on one of the racks was set up to allow the handheld terminal to be clipped in so you could see the display when the rack door was closed and locked.

But it did indeed come with one? I have one rack and the hht is long gone.

Interesting, i was told by the Levitron tech that was doing the install the i had something to do with the load.

Also we did not get a handheld terminal.

Also for the filter, for the 1 - 2 years it need to be clean every 3-4months, after that one time each year should be fine. My fan are always running at "full power"

How often you need to clean the filter is a function of how much dust there is in the air around the dimmers, it has nothing to do with how old they are. If you have gone from cleaning every 3-4 months to once a year then chances are something is impeding the airflow through the rack (or you create less dust now).

i think why they told me that is becouse a year from now all the construstion will be done and it is in a closed room, but i think i will be cleaning them every 6 months. i will see how much dust we will have in the coming years.

It does have something to do with the load, I was reading the manual and that was what also made me wonder why my fan is always going all out. It said that it's only supposed to even be going when there's a load and I've been in there when there's no load and the fan's going all out. The manual says that the fan is only supposed to be going at medium speed when there's a load and full boar if there's an over heating issue which I don't have any indicator lights on saying that's the case.

Bad sensor / thermocouple? I'd imagine the fan speed control is related to two separate but related systems - the control module based on what it knows about load factor and an overheat sensor that would override everything else and bring the fans to full speed. Though you would think if it were perpetually in overtemp it would tell you some how (indicator light, shut down etc.)
