sheffiled student looking for work

What's up?
New to the scene and looking for tips on how to get work. seems a bit naive? well I know the field is highly competetive but I'm desperate for work. I figure somebody will dig my gumption.

I'm in audio with some experience with lights...can anyone point me in the right direction.

theres plenty of topics around the forums. give a good search.

have you tried backstagejobs.com

So you are in Baltimore right?
How old are you?
How much training have you had?
Have you worked anywhere for pay or volunteer?

If you are young and looking for a career your best bet is to get into a community theater and volunteer. You'll meet people. The most important thing you can do in this industry is meet people and impress them. You can develop an entire career based on your hard work on a show you did 10 years ago. Call rental shops and see if they need over hire people to work special events coming up at Christmas. Call anywhere you can get to listen to you and offer to work for next to nothing or free. It's all about getting your foot in the door and meeting people who you can impress. Can you set up an internship somewhere? Internships are an outstanding way to get access to great jobs you wouldn't get otherwise.
