Has anyone used these monitors before? and are they any good?

Oh, if only those two things went together.

Good choices include Renkus TRC81 and 82, EAW SM200, that sort. If they're for effects and not wedges, add to that Renkus CFX81 (and 61?), EAW JF60. Community CSX series (long discontinued, I believe) are also a good budget fit. Some of the old Yams were okay too.

The other week I found a killer Ebay deal on TRC81s (three for the price of one), so I jumped on it. You don't see RH, let alone their TRC line, on there often. For the most part, a compact wedge like that goes for somewhere in the 1-1.5K range. CFX81 is down at $300-400. I haven't really followed pricing on EAW, but I'd bet both the SM200 and JF60 are in the 1K range.

I don't think you're going to find anything decent under the $250 mark (that would be the Community boxes, and likely their successors).

You can only pick two of the above, but you're not going to find all three in one package. The minimum I'd say to go is Yamaha club series, SM112. It's not what I'd classify as small, but it'll get the job done. They're in the $300-400 range. JBL MRX512M is another I'd recommend. You can find them for about $500.

I've seen a number of used EV FM1202s and FM1502s for sale on ebay and the prosoundweb.com marketplace for around $250 a box.

I was thinking of using it for a monitor in our greenroom/dressing room because we need an audio feed there. The actors just need to be able to hear what's going on out on stage.
We have a video feed but no audio.

If you're using it for just a green room monitor, my suggestion would be something like a JBL Control 1 or its equivalent. You don't need a 12"+whatever the hell that Behringer uses (is that an oval speaker as a tweeter?). They can be had cheap if you look around. They're also good for effects on stage, like a phone ringing.

What about a few JBL Control 1 install speakers for that purpose? You could mount 'em to the wall.

EDIT: Eboy beat me to it. Well, that's a resounding YES for the Control 1.

I found an old power amp I could use with these speakers (I'm sure I can convince my supervisor to buy them) it's only outputs are binding posts, (no 1/4" or speakon) but it still performs pretty well.

Besides, then our stage manager can make announcements to the actors when she's at her post.

That's what they are! I've seen these things in classrooms all over campus, and we have a number of them as effects boxes. These would work absolutely great as well and are about the same as the Control 1 in my book.
