status 24/48 colortran blackout issue

Hello to anyone who can help me. we have an old status 24/48 colortran light board that has a blackout issue. on the display it reads Blackout, it's on all the time and can not seen to clear it. (tried- power on/off and letting it rest, un-plug it, sliders up and down, tired switches/sliders and controls to get out of a blackout too.) is it something w/ the internal memory?

thank you for your help.

Not sure how to fix your problem other than taking it to a service center, but my local community theatre used to have this same board and it did seem to get temperamental with age (hence its replacement). The memory can be quite sensitive (somewhat volatile), especially if its left on for long periods of time with no surge suppression.

The Status also had lots of ribbon cable inside that can work it's way loose. Might check for that. No use in worrying about voiding any warranties if you have the authority in your venue to open it up and have a look.

Seems to me, when an Old Colortran starts to lock up, it means it's time to change the CMOS battery. Perhaps another old fart can better explain, Sometimes it's a simple matter of replacing the battery, sometimes you have to take the old battery out, put a jumper between two legs of an IC near the battery to discharge the Super Cap, then replace the battery with a new one.

But start with replacing the battery.

The LCD will read "Blackout" with the Grand Master down. In the upper right corner is a small black sliding switch that says "Blackout/Normal". Make sure it's on Normal.

Other then that, the usual - do a reset, call Litetrol.

Sorry if this has been answered!

We have a Status as well. If the GM is up and blackout is ticked to Normal, then your board may of been reset due to the internal battery dieing, ours has done so many times, which is why we are getting a new board. If this has happened. Hit Setup twice, or until the screen reads "Protocal?" And make sure it is not CMX, the default, and scroll to DMX.

Also try a hard clear - hold the Clear button when you start up.

You will need to do a patch as well as re-setting the system to CMX or DMX or whatever you use.
