Design Haze question

Just how quickly will haze dissipate in a closed room?

The dimensions are I believe 61ft wide, 40ft deep, and about 20ft high. Theres no real way for ventilation, as we only have air ducts for air conditioning, and they only pump air in. We have doors, but if we have a performance those will remain closed (but unlocked during all business hours :) ).
We're pumping enough haze to see the beams for a specific scene, but I'm not sure how long it will last after the scene.

Any idea how long the audience will be seeing light beams?

Depends on the Hazer, the haze fluid, how much haze you put out, how many audience members you have on any given night, the temperature, relative humidity, etc. There is no real way to give an answer other than you have to test.

Yup, what Alex said. It also depends on air flow. At the PAC we could turn off and on individual vents and return air to control our haze by remote. That was nice.

Had an LD from a dance company ask me once if there was any way to make the haze not drift across the stage.

We had the theater vent fans shut off, which didn't provide an adequate solution - as far as he was concerned.

The weekend went downhill from there.

Alex's answer is dead on and there's no way to know without getting a machine and doing a test run. Be prepared for the director to not be happy with ANY of the choices.

P.S. I've heard good things about the MDG CO2 machines.

MDG CO2 Hazers are awesome had two of them on Chicago last year . . . Probably one of the base hazers out there (In my opinion) but they are messy make sure you have towels in front of them when you haze they like to spit fluid and they do not travel well.

A simple trick to spitting hazers I saw an ME use a few months ago (and of course have stolen the idea) are to place Bus Buckets in front of the hazers. Call them bus buckets, kitchen tubs, catering tubs, whatever.
