Dark door way that won’t glow

Ok here is the problem. We have a beam hanging across the stage about 8’ off the ground. We hang things on it at different points and it works very well. The problem we are having is one change we have a door way we bring out and hang in pitch black. We have tried spike tape and glow tape. The problem is there is not enough glow tape and in the dark there is not enough light to see the white glow tape on the black surface. So what can I put on there that is as bright as glow tape (no brighter) but does not require an extension cord? Thanks so much.

Dude! That is what I Need! Thanks

Those look nice but are hella expensive >.<

At my old school, we had a little jar of hand-made ones, and we just used the old wireless mic batteries in them.

In a pinch, Sylvania makes a line of "stick up" LED's in some fun colors (red, blue, green, purple). (They are called "Dot Its") You push them once, they light up, hit them again, they blink, hit them one more time and they turn off. They're magenetic or have a sticky-back. They are about the size of a quarter and about as thick as a stack of 8 quarters. They are made for reminders on your fridge. 6 bucks for 4 of 'em at your local Walmart (Check the LED bulb section).

They are BRIGHT so you may need to actually "gel" them down a bit.

Arizona's governor's office has been distributing free plastic ice cubes with LEDs in them - they flash red or blue, fast or slow. Most bars will give you several for free. I've been prying them apart to do the same thing, and even rigged a few up as cue lights. If your state does the same, there's a free route if you don't mind some tinkering.

Um... why are they doing that?

The gov, or the bars? They're supposed to look like flashing red and blue police lights, to help people make smart choices about drinking and driving. Might have been a holiday only thing. Anywhere I went where alcohol was served had them out on display as well, and patrons were encouraged to help themselves to them.
