Automated Fixtures Innovator/Entour issues

Hi CB,
I am currently in the middle of my cats run, and I keep running into some issues with my automated lights:

Equipment:
Leviton Colortran Innovator
6x mac 250 Entour

the issue is that when i load a cue, it will work perfectly, however if i start from the top of the show and when i get to that cue, it is suddenly way messed up. I know most of you will say make sure i have the position of the lights in place before the cue they are actually in, but obviously i know about all of that. It's just very odd because the Mac's just don't seem to do what i tell them to do sometimes, like the data is getting screwed up somewhere along the line. some things i've already tried are: checking DDl, Checking ALL cable (dmx and otherwise), checking all of the cues for programming error. sometimes they just dont do what i want. Any questions, let me know
thanks

I don't have a solution for you, but I will say I notice the exact same thing with my Innovator. The only solution I came up with was to program all conventionals first, then load the moving devices onto submasters. Run the submasters with the cues. The Innovator seems to have severe issues storing moving devices with cues.

Well... It may just be the board. There are times when running the board for extended periods of time/pushing it hard that it starts to screw up. Find a floppy, save your desk, then reset the board. That usually helps. Apart from trying to re-cue your entire show, I don't really have any other pointers since I don't have any MLs in my theatre.

If you don't know how to reset: On the Innovator, hold the [CLEAR] key down, power down the console using the master switch on the back of the board, and power it back up. Don't release the [CLEAR] key until the Setup screen is showing. Then let the [CLEAR] key go and reload your show. Save your show to at least two disks and check them to make sure they work. It seems the data becomes corrupted easily.

I was extremely disappointed that Leviton was not exhibiting at USITT, to help me with my upcoming Innovator/VL1000 project. Upon returning home, I found out that the rental of the VL1000s has been cut due to budget. So I still have to help a high school program conventionals, but at least not MLs with shutters and CMY on a console with which I'm unfamiliar.

Shakspeares suck, how about running the show normally, but loading "that cue" just before you need it? Sounds like it might be a tracking issue. What are the fixtures doing wrong? Pay particular attention to the value(s) of the fixtures' Control Channel.

My first thought was a tracking issue as well.

Mike

Is the Innovator a tracking console (I have never used one)? In any event, I know that you mentioned having "setup" cues programmed, but have you changed any parameters in the cue you want them up in and not applied those changes to the "setup" cue? Also, when you say:

What do you mean they don't do what you want? If you control them individually by channels/attributes, do they not do what you are telling them to do? Again, I don't know the Innovator, but if you are controlling them with faders, do you know if your faders are HTP or LTP? As that would make a difference in how the units respond when you take manual control (this wouldn't effect your cues though).

So, in short, I would check your "setup" cues and make sure that your attribute information is actually matching the cue where the light comes on. Also, make sure that if you added any cues between the original setup cue and the up cue that the new cues also have the attribute data.

It becomes corrupted VERY easily. One thing to note is that Leviton tech has repeatedly told me NOT to do a hard reset too often, say more than every 6 months, as it creates artifacts in the memory or some such.

so let me give you an example of what might happen:
Q 59- fade up macs on floor with gobo, open color scroll (works fine)
Q 60- macs move to new position with same gobo (usually works, however what has happened is sometimes the mac will move somewhere else other than where i originally programmed the Q)
Q 61- move back to original position (works)

Another example
Q69- Macs begin a color scroll for effect (works)
Q 70- Macs stop scrolling and go to blue (most of the macs stop but sometimes 1 or two will continue scrolling)

I originally thought it could be a tracking issue, however after double checking to make sure to record cues in cue only it doesnt appear to be a tracking problem. AFter what everyone has been saying here it just sounds like the innovator is not a very good board with moving lights, and corrupted data seems to be a plausible explaination
