My school has two studio spot 575 and we are running them on our innovator board. of course because is a high school im the only one who knows how to even turn them on and im going to admit i have trouble with that some times. well i was wonder if any one could give me some advise on how they work and how to use them properly.

and on a norther note i wanted to use them for a rock concert in my theatre on day and thought i did every thing but i didnt. this was my setup i had strip light for back lighting red, green, blue, and amber. i put each color on there own submaster so i can strobe them. then i had a sub for house, then one for stage lighting. i set the movers without any other lights on and when i got a look i liked i clicked record to sub and had light for different subs with different look i want to add to the lighting during the show when needed. this worked well until i want to strobe the stage light and keep the mover going. it would cut the movers off when i used a sub without them on it.

oh and i set four ers pointing in the house it looked nice :). it was heavy metal.

Moving lights (except for the intensity channel) don't do well on HTP (pile-on) submasters. For your set up, I'd recommend recording cues with only the non-intensity parameters of the studio colors and use [GotoQ] [x], recording each cue in [Q-Only] mode.

The programming is pretty easy. Spend some time understanding the manual.

With my Studio Color 575, it is important to set a value for all 16 channels. It looks like you need to address 24 channels from the board for each SS-575.

Other tips: In the SS-575 manual chapter 2 is good. Page 2-10 and 2-11 should be laminated. Appendix A should be laminated, as well.

This fixture looks cool in the manual. I would be excited to have them. How did you get two of these? Feel free to contact me if they want to sell them. ;)

Have fun,

It's hard for me to tell what happened from what you write... but I smell the need for multiple que lists (or whatever your board calls them) running simultaneously. I could be wrong. The values for the Ss575 do have to stay programmed in every que in which you use them. It helps to track them (especially the stable settings) through the whole show. If any of the SS575's 24 channel values were recorded into the other subs, you could have a problem. In other words, you might be using a single DMX channel on two devices if you have an overlap.

As I said before, I suggest you read that HES manual.
