Gel Swatch Application for iPhone / iPod Touch

Has anyone else been having problems getting a swatchbook from rosco?

I ordered one in the beginning of May, and it said they were out of stock, it would be 4-6 weeks before delivery and it would be sent as soon as they got some. So... I ordered another one three weeks ago and still have not received it yet. Is it just me???

Check out the new iPhone app from Wybron. It's $10 and has a very close approximation of the colors of all the major gel manufacturers, including the spectral curves. You might not order 100 sheets of a single color using it (probably has a big oops potential), but it gets you close and will always be in your pocket.

Plus, it is way cool.

I think it can be had at at the Apple App Store.

Adds a whole new meaning to "I'll just phone in the color order.":)

Looking forward to the day when I just select how many of each moving light and SourceFour I need and then the phone will generate the shop order, including proper cable lengths and data distribution.

So my friend mentioned this little program for the iPod / iPhone Touch it's an Application called Gel Swatch. It's on the Apple Store - App Store go check it out.

Ha, that looks ridiculous!

You think it's useful over a regular swatchbook? It looks more like a cool novelty than anything (but watch me end up getting it anyway =/ )

I can't hold the swatches up to the light. I want the flip-up translucent touchscreen upgrade.

Then you will be out of a job as soon as someone figures that one out. Now, when ETC/Strand/Flying Pig/GrandMA put out remotes for their consoles on it, I will buy an iPhone the next day. Oh, and lightwright too.

Needless to say I saw this thread and bought that app...

Good idea, thanks! I did make a couple edits for Wybron -- correcting prices and a couple of misspellings. I'm a word nerd and it's my job, what can I say!

Also, we should have a new app to add to that list very soon :)

OK, just added our new Moiré Gobo Library to the wiki article.

Sorry for the (almost) blatant advertisements :)

Are you planning on adding Rosco gobos to the library? If you are I would defiantly buy it.
While I'm asking, Is there plans to add Apollo gels to you gel app?

Feel free to PM me if there is some secret reason that shouldn't be public.

Later today (assuming I'm still motivated) I'm gonna add links to the wiki so your one click away from the app in iTunes.

I admit, one of the reasons i chose a Ipod Touch over another ipod was apps like this. I personally like all the RGB and CMY values for all the colors. And the similar and complimentary colors. It's helped me out many times when we get a plot with all GAM colors and we only stock Rosco and Lee. Of course the LD had to agree to the substitutions, but there have been times they didn't even notice the difference. It's not perfect but its been a big help.
